How It Works

Protestbum is being built to connect individuals and organizations with paid protesters nationwide. Create a protest, hire willing participants, and track their participation in real time, all from one platform.

  1. Create your protest.

Your cause, message and sign, a public place, the day and time, and how many protesters.

  2. A willing protester accepts.

Protesters near that place see your request, the time, duration and pay, and choose whether to go.

  3. Follow it from anywhere.

Arrival check-in, a session timer and occasional photo check-ins, then a completion record.

Planned None of these steps is live yet. Screens show illustrative people, places and requests.

Whatever your cause, wherever it needs to be heard. Choose what your protest is about and where it happens, across town or across the country, and a willing protester near that place decides whether to take it.

What is Protestbum?

An on-demand marketplace being built for protest participation. You create your own protest, choosing the cause, message, sign, place, time, duration and number of protesters, and a willing, paid protester carries it out, so you don’t have to be there. A protester can also attend a demonstration that’s already planned, on your behalf.

It isn’t live yet. Join the waitlist and we’ll tell you when it launches.

How will payment work?

The plan is for customers to pay inside Protestbum when they book, with the full price shown before confirming, and for protesters to be paid after the session is complete.

The payment provider, fees, payout timing and tax handling aren’t final. No prices are set and no earnings are guaranteed.

What can I do today?

Join the waitlist to be told when the app launches, or join the protester waitlist if you’d like to protest for pay. The demos on this site show how the app is designed to work.

Creating protests, joining existing ones, matching, booking, payments and live tracking are planned and not available yet. Joining the waitlist doesn’t reserve anything or set a price.

What kinds of protests will I be able to create?

Lawful, peaceful protests in public places, on the issues people already demonstrate about: healthcare, climate, immigration, guns, government spending, civil liberties, or something local and specific. You’ll choose the message, the sign, the place and the time. Protestbum doesn’t endorse causes and applies the same rules to every request, whatever side it’s on.

Requests won’t be able to involve violence or weapons, threats, harassment or intimidation, blocking entrances or traffic, trespassing, someone’s home, damage, impersonation, or anyone’s personal details. Every request will be reviewed against local rules before anything can be booked.

Where will it launch, and when?

There’s no launch city or date yet, and we won’t invent one. Protestbum will open city by city, starting where customers and protesters are in the same place. The cities people give us help decide where that is.

Does Protestbum take political sides?

No. Protestbum is viewpoint-neutral infrastructure: it doesn’t endorse parties, candidates, ideologies or causes, and it applies the same rules to every request. Signup never asks about your politics.
